The Festival Verdi 2026 opens with Alzira, a rarely performed Verdi gem returning to the Teatro Regio di Parma after more than twenty years. This new production, presented in the critical edition edited by Stefano Castelvecchi and Jonathan Cheskin, marks the beginning of a rediscovery journey that the Festival aims to cultivate in the coming years.

Next, two great classics take the stage: Aida, performed in the intimate Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Busseto with Franco Zeffirelli’s extraordinary direction, and Nabucodonosor, once again featured at the Teatro Regio di Parma in the critical edition edited by Roger Parker.

All three operas will be presented according to the scholarly publications of the University of Chicago Press and Casa Ricordi, offering authentic and deeply inspired interpretations.

Completing the program are the Gala Verdiano, Messa da Requiem, Ramificazioni, and Verdi Off — a celebration of Verdi’s genius not to be missed.

We had a Messa da Requeim with Michele Mariotti, formidable, and a very nice La forza del destino with a very interesting staging that played on the lights, very sober; we had the opportunity to go to Fidenza in the small theater with Il Trovatore, very very good.
