New Year’s concert at Auditorium Paganini

On December 31st, 2025 at 6:00 PM or January 1st, 2026 at 11:30 AM, the Auditorium Niccolò Paganini in Parma will host an extraordinary celebration: the New Year’s Concert featuring Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125. This monumental work conveys a timeless message of hope and universal brotherhood through the overwhelming force of music.

With its iconic verse “Be embraced, you millions!”, taken from Friedrich Schiller’s Ode to Joy, the Ninth becomes an anthem to perfect joy—one that can only arise from unity among human beings. Beethoven first envisioned this idea in 1793, but it was only decades later, despite the isolation of his deafness and the struggles of his final years, that he brought it to life. The result is a symphony that moves from darkness to light, from solitude to connection, offering humanity a musical embrace—a “kiss for the whole world.”

The concert will be conducted by Valentin Uryupin, with soloists Ava Dodd (soprano), Josè Maria Lo Monaco (mezzo-soprano), Andrew Morstein (tenor), and Ben McAteer (bass).

The Choir of the Teatro Regio di Parma, prepared by Martino Faggiani, will join La Toscanini orchestra for a performance of profound emotional and artistic power.
