Festival Verdi 2027: Parma becomes an Open-Air Stage
From 1 to 24 October 2027, Parma and Busseto will once again celebrate the genius of Giuseppe Verdi with the 27th edition of Festival Verdi. An international event that brings the magic of opera to the places most closely associated with the Maestro, inviting visitors to enjoy a unique experience of music, culture and tradition.
Festival Verdi is not only one of the most important musical events dedicated to the composer, but also an opportunity to discover a region where music is an essential part of its cultural identity.
Guilt and Forgiveness
The 27th edition of Festival Verdi will explore the theme of “Guilt and Forgiveness”, delving into the complexities of human nature, society’s judgement and the possibility of redemption through music.
One of the highlights of this edition is the fascinating comparison between two closely related operas: Aroldo, making its Festival Verdi debut under the baton of Roberto Abbado, and Stiffelio, conducted by Gianluca Capuano at the Teatro Verdi in Busseto. These two “sister” works offer audiences a rare opportunity to discover and compare the original opera with its later reworking.
After more than ten years, La traviata returns to Festival Verdi, bringing back one of the world’s most beloved and frequently performed operas, under the baton of Michele Spotti.
The Gala Verdiano and Messa da Requiem complete the programme, enriching an edition that celebrates Giuseppe Verdi in the heart of his homeland.
